 Over fifty years
ago a young man with a vision set out on a journey to spread his passion for swimming. Jack Nelson’s swimming career began in the salt water of the Casino Pool, the first Olympic size pool in
Florida which led to the creation of the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex.
From his humble beginnings he brought the sport of swimming to both the young and old; teaching everything from water
safety to competitive stroke development.
Along his journey he inspired thousands of children and adults and ignited a passion for swimming amongst them.
Coach Jack Nelson’s beginnings may have been simple, but what he would build would become legendary.
The Jack Nelson Program and the City of Fort Lauderdale have worked together for over three decades to
build Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex into a mecca for swimming.
While working closely with the City of Fort
Lauderdale, the Jack Nelson Swim School has become the premier "learn-to-swim"
program in South Florida.
JNSS continues to work with the City of Fort Lauderdale to continue a swimming tradition of teaching with care!
